Vascular Societies’ Annual Scientific Meeting 2025

The Vascular Societies’ Annual Scientific Meeting 2025 will address key issues in vascular surgery, with a strong focus on aortic disease and patient outcomes.

The Vascular Societies’ Annual Scientific Meeting 2025, taking place from 26th to 28th November at Connexin Live in Hull, will bring together vascular professionals from across the UK and Ireland. Organised by the Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland, the event will feature a comprehensive scientific programme with a strong focus on aortic pathology.

Several sessions will explore current challenges and developments in the management of aortic disease. These include a detailed comparison of peri-operative and long-term outcomes in elective Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR) versus Open Surgical Repair, which will examine evolving evidence and implications for clinical decision-making. A session reviewing a decade of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) screening in the UK will provide insights into the programme’s effectiveness, challenges, and future direction.

The psychological impact of aortic surveillance will also be addressed, with a session on managing AAA surveillance-related anxiety, reflecting growing recognition of the need to consider mental health in long-term patient care. Discussions on Aortic Best Practice and What Can We Do for Our Patients? will explore multidisciplinary approaches to improving standards of care.

An important update from the EARNEST trial, delivered by Professor Colin Bicknell, a groundbreaking UK study, now open and recruiting, which is shaping the future of treatment for uncomplicated type B aortic dissection.

The meeting offers an opportunity for clinicians and researchers to review evidence, share practice and discuss strategies for improving outcomes in vascular disease.
