Practical Aspects of Participating

If you are reading this, you are likely part of the aortic dissection research panel and interested in contributing to research efforts. For those who haven’t joined yet, you can sign up here:

How the Process Works

Once you are on the panel, the charity will send you occasional invitations to learn more about specific projects and how you can get involved. If you agree to be involved, your contact information may be shared with external research teams, typically based at universities or hospitals. These teams will then liaise with you directly regarding the practical aspects of your involvement and outline your role in the project.

The research team will keep the charity updated on the overall progress of the research and PPI activities. However, if you have any questions or comments you’d like to discuss, please feel free to reach out to us at any time.

Types of Participation

Many PPI activities can be conducted virtually, such as participating in online meetings, providing feedback via email, or completing surveys. Some projects may require in-person attendance at specific centres; this will be clearly communicated before you commit to any project.

Reimbursement and Compensation

Projects often reimburse expenses like travel costs or childcare, and some may offer payment for your time and input. Policies on payment, expenses, and recognition vary by project and will be made clear before you commit to participating.

Our goal is to ensure you have a positive and inclusive experience, contributing your lived experience to advance aortic disease research. Remember, we are here to support you throughout the process; please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need assistance.
