Artificial Intelligence and Aortic Dissection

Explore AI’s role in diagnosing aortic dissection, featuring expert discussions and the latest research advancements.

Join a multidisciplinary discussion on the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the diagnosis of aortic dissection. Hosted by Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust in collaboration with Durham University’s Department of Computer Science, this workshop will explore the latest developments in AI-driven imaging analysis, annotation techniques, and future pathways for AI integration into clinical practice.

With AI playing an increasing role in medical diagnostics, rapid and automated identification of aortic dissection is critical to improving patient outcomes. The workshop will feature expert-led presentations, interactive discussions, and opportunities for networking with professionals from radiology, cardiology, emergency medicine, and AI research.

Event Highlights

  • Fundamentals of imaging in aortic dissection
  • AI-driven analysis and systematic reviews of existing solutions
  • Deep dive into neural networks and their role in diagnosis
  • Roundtable discussions on challenges and future applications
  • The importance of collaboration in AI-driven healthcare

Connecting to AORTA-AI: The Future of AI in Aortic Dissection Diagnosis

This workshop is highly relevant to AORTA-AI, a groundbreaking project we are funding in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. The AORTA-AI project focuses on developing a rapid AI-based decision support system for Acute Aortic Syndrome (AAS) diagnosis. By leveraging machine learning, the project aims to enhance early detection and reduce diagnostic delays, a key challenge in emergency medicine.

Led by Dr Jim Zhong, this research integrates large-scale patient datasets to create AI-powered risk assessment tools. If successful, the AI model could become a standard screening tool in emergency departments, minimising misdiagnoses and improving patient outcomes.

This event offers a unique opportunity to engage with experts in the field, exchange knowledge, and contribute to shaping the future of AI in aortic dissection diagnosis.
