The 50th Annual Conference of the Association of Surgeons in Training (ASiT) is an annual event bringing together surgeons of all grades from across the UK and Ireland. The conference provides an important platform to network across specialities, engage with the latest developments in clinical practice, and explore the evolving future of surgical training. As one of the largest surgical speciality associations in the UK, ASiT represents around 3,500 members and remains proudly independent, run by trainees for trainees. Established in 1976 as a forum for senior registrars, the Association now counts numerous professional leaders and Royal College Presidents amongst its distinguished alumni.
This year, the Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust will be present within the Speciality Village segment, bringing the aortic dissection patient voice directly to the surgical community. Our presence will focus on highlighting the lived experience of patients and families affected by aortic dissection, reinforcing the importance of timely intervention, clear communication and long-term follow-up care. By sharing patient perspectives alongside clinical discussion, we aim to support surgical trainees in understanding the profound human impact of this life-threatening condition and the critical role they play in improving outcomes.
