As the main charity for aortic dissection in the UK and Ireland, The Aortic Dissection Charitable Trust is dedicated to improving awareness, education and patient support. In close partnership with the British Heart Foundation (BHF), we work to ensure that patients and their families receive the best possible guidance and resources.
This specialised training day is designed for BHF cardiac nurses who staff the medical helpline, equipping them with up-to-date knowledge on aortic dissection and aneurysms. With many heart patients and family members turning to the BHF for support, this session will provide essential insights to help nurses confidently address concerns, offer accurate information, and refer individuals to our dedicated aortic website, including the AD patient guide and resources.
What This Training Covers
- Understanding Aortic Dissection & Aneurysms – Key facts, symptoms, risk factors and management strategies.
- Patient & Family Support – How to provide compassionate, clear guidance to those affected.
- Referral to the Leading Aortic Dissection Resources – Ensuring patients have access to expert information and ongoing support.
- Raising Awareness – Strengthening the role of cardiac nurses in advocating for better recognition and treatment of aortic dissection.
This event will help enhance the knowledge and confidence of BHF nurses, ultimately improving the support available to those affected by aortic dissection and cardiovascular diseases.
