Expert-led lectures and hands-on training for healthcare professionals managing aortic dissection in Scotland.

The Scottish Aortic Dissection Education Event 2026 is a key educational summit offering healthcare professionals a comprehensive understanding of aortic dissection, along with hands-on training in patient management.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in Glasgow will once again host this annual event, designed specifically for paramedics and emergency medicine professionals. This summit provides an essential opportunity to gain updated knowledge, practical skills, and real-world insights into managing aortic dissection. Awarded 5 CPD hours by RCSEd.

Morning Lectures: Focused Medical Content

The morning session will feature expert-led lectures covering the pathophysiology of aortic dissection, equipping attendees with a deeper understanding of the condition’s causes and progression. Pre-hospital management discussions will outline best practices and protocols for identifying and treating suspected aortic dissection before hospital admission.

Afternoon Sessions: Hands-On Learning

The afternoon will break into two distinct practical learning tracks, designed to enhance hands-on skills through case-based learning and technical training.

Emergency Case Studies & Simulation

Participants will engage in an interactive live simulation and emergency medicine case studies, refining their diagnostic and treatment skills through interactive discussions and analysis of complex patient cases.

Aortic POCUS

Designed for emergency medicine trainees, this session provides hands-on training in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) techniques for identifying and assessing aortic conditions in acute settings.

A Comprehensive Educational Experience

The event includes morning lectures and practical afternoon sessions. When booking, attendees will select their preferred afternoon track, while the morning session is automatically included.
